Why it's in the guide

A relaxed pub right next to Notting Hill Gate station with one of the area's best courtyard beer gardens -- heated, with hanging lights, lush greenery, and bold wall art, seating up to 47. Wednesday night quiz. Live sports on Sky. The famous Gate Theatre (75-seat fringe venue) used to be upstairs. Open until midnight every day. Probably the oldest pub in the area, dating from the 1800s.

Head straight through to the heated courtyard — and with a midnight close every day, it outlasts almost everything else by the Gate.
